Prestige Wins Two Awards in Cannes

Two Prestige Yachts, one a monohull and the other a multihull, won big awards recently in Cannes.

Prestige’s X60 monohull won the award for Best Innovation of the Year at the World Yacht Trophies competition, announced at the end of the Cannes Yachting Festival. The Prestige M48 catamaran won the award in the multihull category for Design Innovation; it also was nominated for the European Powerboat of the Year award that will be announced at the Düsseldorf show in January.

The Prestige X60  award came just two years after its larger sibling, the X70, won the award for Best Layout. The new X60 made its world debut at the Cannes show.

Prestige, an upscale French builder, eliminated one side deck in the X60, extending the salon out and providing more interior space. The aft deck is innovative with fold-down, rear-facing seats and see-through railings at the end of the cockpit that extend out several feet like a balcony.

The flybridge has more beam because of the eliminated side deck. It has sun lounges, a dining table for six, a wet bar, an L-shaped sofa on the starboard side, an oversized sun pad aft and the upper helm.

In the salon, large picture-sized windows provide lots of natural light opposite doors opening to the side deck. There’s another door next to the helm. Massive sliding doors open to the cockpit.

The X60 has three cabins below. The master is full beam amidships for privacy. The VIP cabin is forward and a guest cabin with twin bunks is on the port side. All have en suite heads and showers.

For its part, the M48 is the first in Prestige’s new line of power catamarans. Prestige, part of the powerful Beneteau Group, says the cat is designed as “a private island” for owners.

It offers two layouts for accommodations. Owners can choose three staterooms (with a massive owner’s suite forward), or four staterooms, two in each hull. The beds are positioned in a transverse style so guests can have views of the sea.

A luxury cat, the M48 has a beam of 19’ 8”, so there’s lots of room for living easily and entertaining. It has a beach club aft that opens to the garage for water toys. The aft deck has seating for eight on two settees. The foredeck is another social area, with a large sun lounge under the windshield, and a smaller one up on the bow.

The galley is in the salon, and a door next to the helm opens to the side deck. Up top, the flybridge has a massive wraparound settee, sun lounges and the upper helm.
