Sunreef Building New 55 Open Power

Sunreef just announced that it’s building a new 55 Open Power, a luxury hybrid catamaran with a blend of speed, stability and comfort.

With low-slung, modern, aggressive lines, the Sunreef 55 almost demands that you take a second look. The cabin roof slopes forward to enhance a sense of motion, and the cat is marked by its reverse bows and a slash of windows along the lower hull sides that provide a lot of interior light to the cabins on the accommodations deck below.

But it’s when the boat stops that it’s really eye-catching. The bulwarks on both sides of the aft deck fold out to form one large, open, teak deck there, filled with supersized sun pads port and starboard.

The aft end of the salon is open (per the boat’s name), so the aft deck flows freely into the salon. Then, you can raise the teak swim platform to the same level as the aft deck to make that entire area even larger and even more open. When the swim platform is down, it can hold a tender or serve as the entrance to the world of water sports.

The salon has windows all around for superb visibility, and sliding glass doors open to the decks on both sides. The helm station is centered, with a seat for two. Stairs leading to the accommodations deck in the hulls below are just aft of the helm, on both sides. Then there’s a fridge and ice-maker, and farther aft are matching L-shaped settees with tables and ottomans, leading directly to the aft deck.

The new 55 Open Power offers two layouts below, one with a master stateroom along most of the port hull with two cabins in the starboard hull; the other with two cabins in each hull. There is also room for small crew cabins in each bow and one all the way aft, behind the starboard engine compartment.

Sunreef also announced that it’s opening an office in Fort Lauderdale, in response to growing demand in the U.S. market. Sunreef was founded in 2002 by Francis Lapp in Gdansk, Poland.

We don’t have any more details yet about the new Sunreef 55 Open Power. Stand by. Read more:
