SILENT Launches New All-Electric Tender

SILENT-YACHTS, the innovative Austrian company, just launched its first all-electric, 13-foot Tender 400, the start of a new series to serve the company’s solar-powered catamarans and anyone who wants a tender that’s totally quiet and leaves no carbon footprint behind.

The Tender 400 is designed to the same standard as the company’s 60- and 80-foot catamarans, and is meant to be light, fast, and silent, just like the motherships. It can be connected directly to the larger yachts for recharging.

The tender comes with either electric outboard or electric waterjet drive propulsion with up to 30kW of power and a top speed of 20 knots. The waterjet offers low draft and safety for water sports; the outboard is a bit faster.

A 16kWh lithium battery is standard, but an upgraded 20kWh provides more range. At 10 knots, the tender has about two hours of drive time. Fast charging can replenish the battery in about 2.5 hours.

With its light weight, just 198 pounds, the Tender 400 fits easily on the hydraulic swim platform of a SILENT 60. It has a central console, a leather-padded wheel, and a passenger seat on both sides of the driver, plus two more on the bow. A lowered bulwarks amidships makes for easy boarding.

“We are very proud to present the new SILENT Tender 400, which is one of the most efficient electric tenders on the market,” said SILENT-YACHTS CEO and founder Michael Köhler. “It follows the same design principles as our award-winning electric yachts, with dimensions that enable it to fit both the SILENT 60 series and SILENT 80 series. What is more, the hull gives passengers a really dry ride, even at speed and in confused seas.”

Köhler said that SILENT is now working on a larger, 16’ 7” tender at the request of owners of SILENT 80s. Read more at http://silent-yachts.com and see the video below:
