Windy Building New 40 Camira RS

Windy, the high-end builder in Sweden, just announced that’s reviving its Camira line, starting with a sporty new 40 Camira RS with optional outboard power.

Windy first launched its Camira 39 in 2014, and sold 55 of them until it stopped production two years ago. That boat was powered by diesel sterndrives, and the helm deck was protected by just a Bimini top.

The new 40 Camira is offered with two 425-hp Yamaha outboards, three 300-hp Yamahas, or two Volvo 440-hp diesels linked to sterndrives. With the big Yamahas, top speed is estimated at 44 knots.

The 40 was designed by naval architect Hans Jorgen Johnson; Design Unlimited in the UK did the interiors. It has the normal sun pads on the foredeck and the aft deck. A tender garage is under the aft one.

The helm deck is now under a hardtop with a sun roof; the new 40 has a state-of-the-art glass bridge helm. And there’s now an aft facing lounge on the port side, instead of a bar.

Below, the Windy 40 Camira RS has an open plan, where a convertible U-shaped lounge replaces the separate forward cabin on the old 39. The lounge can be converted to a bed at night. The galley, on the port side, is larger than the one on the 39. A separate cabin aft of the companionway steps can be ordered with a single bed or two beds.

The first model of the 40 Camira RS will be launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. It will be powered by the 440-hp Volvos.

Specs.: LOA: 41’7”; Beam: 12’1”; Draft: 3’6”; Disp. (dry): 17,636 lbs.; Fuel: 317 gals.; Water: NA; Power: 2×425-hp Yamaha outboards; 3×300-hp Yamaha outboards; 2xVolvo 440-hp diesels.
