Arcadia Yachts just announced that it’s starting a new “A” series of motor yachts, ranging from 65 to 130 feet. The first model, now under construction, is the A96, a long-range cruiser with five staterooms and an unusual number of large, sliding transparent doors and windows to let in air and light and connect with the world outside.

Ugo Pellegrino, the Arcadia CEO, said “The A96 is the first from a brand-new series of yachts that we’ll develop over the next few years.” Arcadia, an Italian builder known for its Sherpa line, says the new A96 is built around a wellness theme, and that it’s “a resort where you can immerse yourself in nature and regenerate your senses.” The massive foredeck, for example, with the usual sun pads and lounges, can also serve as a yoga center.

At the other end of the yacht, large terraces fold out from the bulwarks to create a social area literally over the water, while adding to the beach club affect there. The aft deck connects to the salon via some innovative folding glass doors. The upper deck is built as another private spot for relaxing or entertaining.

The interior of the A96 was created by Lobanov superyacht design in Barcelona, and it’s based on a lot of natural and eco-friendly materials, with soft lines and free-standing furniture. The overall design is clean, modern and minimalist.

The environmentally friendly theme is highlighted by solar panels that can deliver 4.5 kWh of power that can be stored in batteries. At anchor, they can provide eight to nine hours of Silent Mode power to serve the house systems.

Hull number one will be powered by four 900-hp Volvo IPS1200 pod drives; four 1,000-hp IPS1350s are upgrades. With standard power, the A96 has a top speed of 24 knots. At 16 knots, it has a range of 600 nm, but at 10 knots the range expands to 2,000 nm.

The A96 can hold ten guests in five staterooms, plus five crew in three cabins. The yacht is scheduled to be launched before the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
