Sunreef Building New Line of Fast Ultima Cats

Sunreef, which has been making luxury catamarans in Poland for the past 20 years, just announced that it’s building a new Ultima line of fast, high-tech, hybrid cats, starting with a 45 and a 55.

Francis Lapp, the yard’s founder and president, said the new cats will have “the ultimate hull shape for all those who are looking to enjoy quick getaways in speed, comfort, and style.” The new line, he said, is “all about fast cruises, vast living space, and energy efficiency.”

The new cats have sleek, aerodynamic lines and bulwarks that fold down from the aft decks to provide more space. The 45 has Sunreef’s solar power system on the roof to generate clean, green energy.

We don’t have many details yet, but the 45 has a full-beam sun pad on the bow, and two more two-person sun pads on either side of the aft deck. In the salon, two seats face the centered helm station. A large settee and a dining table with occasional chairs are on the port side; the galley is to starboard. On the accommodations deck below, there’s a large stateroom in each bow, with a large head and shower area aft.

The 55 has safe walkaround decks, a large aft deck, and a vast, semi-open salon. Below, the master stateroom takes up most of the port hull, with the bed placed forward. The head and shower area is aft. The guest stateroom on the starboard side also has the bed forward, and a smaller head area aft. There’s room for a third guest cabin or a crew area aft of that.

The 55 is going to be produced in the United Arab Emirates.

Both boats are semi-custom in the sense that owners can choose the interior layouts, décor and materials they want. So far, the Ultima line seems to be a hit. Sunreef says it has orders for ten boats already. Read more:
