Fountaine Pajot 67: Trans-Atlantic Power Cat

Everything about the new Fountaine Pajot Power 67 is impressive – its size, its elegance, and its performance.

This latest power cat from the longtime French builder has a beam of more than 32 feet, adding sheer volume to the interior and exterior of the boat (the full-beam foredeck, for example, is simply vast, and is large enough for an optional Jacuzzi). At the other end of the boat, the teak swim platform and lounging areas aft just don’t seem to end.

The lines on the new 67, the flagship of the Fountaine Pajot fleet, are modern and elegant, announcing a premium build and intelligence at work. The owner’s stateroom resembles a suite in a five-star hotel more than a traditional boat cabin, and it comes with a king-sized bed, a sofa, a large dressing room and what the company calls an Italian-style bathroom with two basins. It also has an optional door leading out to the foredeck, promising a private plunge in the Jacuzzi.

In terms of performance, the Fountaine Pajot Power 67 crossed the Atlantic on its own bottom in time for the Miami show in February. That boat, hull number four for in the Power 67 line, had optional 480-hp Volvos, giving it a range of 1,700 nm. It actually burned about half a gallon per nautical mile cruising at an efficient 10 to 12 knots. (Standard power is twin 300-hp Volvos.)

Aft, two stairwells lead up to the aft cockpit, flanking the hydraulic swim platform that can be raised or lowered to the waterline. The cockpit has several seating areas and a grill. A folding steel and glass door leads to the vast, open salon that seems like a floating villa with seating and relaxing areas all around.

The L-shaped galley with a central island is forward. Owners can also order the boat with the galley down; in that case, the vacant area in the salon becomes a bar. Either way, a centered door opens to the foredeck. Owners also can order the boat with four double cabins with heads plus the owner’s suite in the hulls below, or three double cabins with heads and the owner’s suite.

The flybridge houses the upper helm, a dining table, bar and several sun pads aft. You can open the sun roof on the hardtop for more light and fresh air. It extends aft to protect the cockpit and port and starboard to cover the side decks.
