Beneteau just unveiled the new Antares 12, the flagship of its outboard-powered Antares line. With two or three cabins and two heads, the new, 42′ 7″ Antares can be powered by three 300-hp V8 Mercury Verado outboards, or two 400-hp V10 Mercury outboards.

The large teak swim platform has extensions on both sides that flank the outboards for easy boarding or access to water sports. You enter the cockpit via a gate on the starboard side. The bulwark on the starboard side drops down to provide even more social space or water access. An L-shaped lounge, facing a table, runs across the transom and the port side. The entire area is protected by the overhang from the flybridge above.

Three-part glass doors open to the salon, with a full galley on the starboard side. A U-shaped lounge is to port; it can be converted to a sleeping area at night. The Antares’ windows are large; visibility is excellent from anywhere in the salon. A single captain’s seat faces the helm; a door opens to the side deck.

The side walkways provide safe access to the foredeck, where the large sun pad has an adjustable backrest.

Up top, the flybridge has a full outdoor galley and a corner sofa lounge on the port side, with the upper helm to starboard. Despite the flybridge, the new Antares has a fairly low profile, with an air draft of just 16’ 1”.

Below, the owner’s cabin is forward, with an en suite head and shower. The VIP cabin is aft a bit to port with twin berths and another head and shower. The optional third cabin is on the starboard side with a single berth; it also can be used as a storage space.

Antares is part of the worldwide Beneteau Group. It has six models, running from 24 to 32 feet, plus the new 43-footer.

The new Antares will make its worldwide debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting September 12, and its U.S. debut at the Fort Lauderdale show, starting October 25.
