Denison Yachting will show the first hull of the Aegean Explorer 26M long-range cruiser series at the Cannes Yachting Festival starting Sept. 13. The second hull in the series is under construction at the Aegean yard in Bodrum, Turkey.

The 85-foot Aegean 26M has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure for a combination of strength and light weight. It’s powered by twin 650-hp MAN diesels, with a top speed of 12.7 knots and a range of more than 3,500 at a slower speed.

Explorer and adventure yachts have become a popular category in the past few years. The Aegean 26M is designed as a “go anywhere” vessel, with a robust hull, plumb bow and relatively low profile. The two-tone gray paint job works to disguise the yacht’s actual size and volume.

Standard accommodations call for six cabins holding 12 guests, including three “full-beam master suites” and two smaller cabins on the lower deck plus a master stateroom on the upper deck with its own private aft terrace and exclusive sunbathing area. In an alternative layout, the upper deck stateroom is replaced by a skylounge, reducing the total number of staterooms, all on the lower deck, to five, holding 10 guests. There also are four separate cabins for crew, all with en suite heads.

The long salon on the main deck has large side windows and a blend of warm oak furniture, parquet flooring, stainless-steel accents and white lacquered overheads. The galley is forward on the port side and includes a separate crew mess as well as a crew staircase to the lower deck.

The Aegean yard was founded in 1976. It has built more than 50 large sail and power yachts so far.
