Azimut Launching New Magellano 60 Cruiser

Azimut will launch its new Magellano 60, the smallest yacht in the Magellano long-range cruiser series, at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The new 60 joins the 66, 25M and 30M yachts in the Magellano lineup, and it carries all the DNA that has made the larger yachts so appealing in the cruising community. The 60 may be the baby in the series, but it’s still a 60-foot cruising yacht, with all the Italian style and comfort that Azimuts are known for.

The Magellano 60  was designed in collaboration with Ken Freivokh, the UK superyacht designer, and it has some design flourishes, including an unbroken line of wraparound glass, long windows in the hull, and a set of parallel teak louvers on the aft pilothouse pillars.

Power comes from twin 730-hp MAN diesels that deliver a top speed of 26 knots.

The interior is built for people who plan on spending lots of time on board. The master stateroom, laid out full-beam amidships, is decorated in warm, restful tones. The new 60 also has a VIP cabin forward and a twin cabin on the port side; they all have en suite heads and showers. A crew cabin is accessed from the transom and is separated from the other accommodations by the engine room for privacy.

You can board the Magellano 60 from side gates or from the large swim  platform. The cockpit holds furniture arranged in fore-and-aft positions so everyone can enjoy the views. There’s also a glass transom balustrade for the same reason. An aft galley bar with two stools is a social area that seems to join the exterior and interior of the yacht.

The deck is all one level from the cockpit to the salon. The galley is aft, just inside large glass doors. A C-shaped settee is to port and another lounge on the starboard side faces a table that folds out to serve six people. A floor-to-ceiling window in the dining area admits lots of natural light while providing unobstructed views.

Up top, the helm station on the starboard side has a seat for two. A big C-shaped lounge is to port, and more furniture is aft. A sunbathing area is set forward.

Azimuts are sold in the U.S. by MarineMax.
