Sunseeker will hold the global debut of its new 88-foot luxury cruiser at the Newport International Boat Show, starting September 14. The upscale British builder will also display its new 65 Sport Yacht and a Manhattan 55 at the show, the start of the fall boat show season on the Atlantic coast.
The new Sunseeker is called the Ocean 182, and it has a large, multi-purpose enclosed skylounge up top and five cabins, all with en suite heads, on its lower deck. There’s also a day head on the main deck, in the space separating the salon seating area from the forward galley and an eight-person dining table.
All the way aft, the Beach Club comes fully equipped with a hydraulic swim platform, retractable passerelle, shower, barbecue grill and lots of occasional seating.
Sean Robertson, the president of Sunseeker USA, says the new Ocean 182 represents “a new style of Sunseeker that has been designed with the North American market in mind.”
Sunseeker calls the upper deck an all-weather floating penthouse, with the yacht’s only helm. An L-shaped bar is next to the helm, with a fridge, ice-maker and sink. A bit aft is U-shaped seating with a cocktail table, and sliding doors open to the al fresco balcony with more seating and tables.
The cockpit has more seating and sun pads, while glass doors lead to the salon with full-length windows offering unimpeded views all around. A spiral staircase with minimalist stair treads (so as not to interrupt the view) leads to the skylounge up top.
Below, the master stateroom is full beam amidships, and the VIP cabin is forward. There are two more double cabins and one twin.
Standard power comes from twin 1,650-hp MAN diesels, with a top speed of 27 knots and a range of 1,800 nm at 12 knots. Power options go up to twin 2,000-hp MANs.
