Axopar Building New 29 Range Line

Axopar, the innovative Finnish builder, created an entirely new genre of adventure boats when it launched its first model, a 28, in 2014. With its plumb bow and, long, low and lean minimalist lines, the 28 has been a big seller in Europe and the U.S.; so far Axopar has made 2,700 of them, and Axopar now makes several other models going up to 45 feet.

Last week, Axopar said it would celebrate its tenth anniversary by replacing the 28 with a brand-new 29 Range line, with three models – Cross Cabin, Sun Top, and Spyder. The new 29s will have a 9’ 8” beam and just a 2’ 8” draft; they will be able to sleep four people in a V-berth and a convertible sofa, and they will be powered by 350- to 400-hp Mercury Verado outboards.

In announcing the new line, Jan-Erik Viitala, a founding partner of Axopar Boats, says it “represents the culmination of living our adventure, listening closely to our customers, and our relentless push for new ground-breaking products. Our 10th year anniversary will not just be a celebration of our past achievements, but also a testament to our commitment to keep developing new innovative products, expanding the boat club concept, and pushing forward the development of the electric fleet.”

Axopar says it will launch the first 29 at the big Düsseldorf show in January. It says the new line will have a sharper industrial design, a more refined use of space and layouts, and more social multifunctional areas. It also will have more options.

Above all, Axopar says the new 29 Range will build on the company’s focus on a combination of performance, comfort and price competitiveness.
