Riva Launches New Diva 82 Flybridge

Riva just launched its new Diva 82-foot flybridge luxury cruising yacht at the Cannes Yachting Festival. It’s the smallest model in Riva’s flybridge lineup, which goes up to the 130 Bellissima.

Riva says the new Diva, with an eye-catching, swept-back windshield, offers a “revolutionary approach to the use of space.” Even though the flybridge is located fairly far aft (the Diva has an elongated foredeck), it is large enough for the upper helm, a lounge with a dinette and bar and sunbathing areas forward and aft. A carbon-fiber hardtop offers some protection from the weather.

The salon, with large windows, is a split-level affair with a lounge area aft and a dining area forward. The lounge has an L-shaped sofa facing a fold-down TV; the elevated dining area has a table seating eight, and panoramic views.

The galley forward can be closed off or open to the dining area. It also provides access to the lower helm station and to the foredeck by a door on the port side. An interior staircase to the flybridge blends into the décor because of the glass walls.

A beach club is all the way aft, with large fold-out sides providing more social space and access to the water. A garage under the aft sun pad is large enough for a 13-foot jet tender.

The lower deck houses four large staterooms, all with en suite heads. Two small cabins for crew are located midship with access from a dedicated walkway. The interior is designed with rich materials, including Italian walnut, ebony leather and grey soft furnishings.

Standard power is twin 1,800-hp MAN diesels, producing a top speed of 29 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots with a range of 300 nm. Upgraded 1,900-hp MANs boost the top speed to 31 knots.

The new Diva carries on Riva’s reputation as the builder of some of the most glamorous boats in the world. The company was founded in 1842 by Pietro Riva, a craftsman who repaired fishing boats on Lake d’Iseo in Northern Italy. The company’s most famous model was the mahogany Riva Aquarama, with owners including Brigitte Bardot, Grace Kelly and James Bond (George Clooney owns one today).

Riva is owned by the Ferretti Group.
