Sirena 78 To Make Debut at FLIBS

The Sirena 78, the upscale Turkish builder’s first enclosed-flybridge cruiser, will make its U.S. debut at the big Fort Lauderdale show starting Oct. 25.

The new, four-cabin, 25-knot Sirena comes with an impressive pedigree. Germán Frers, the famed Argentine, designed the exterior, while Cor D. Rover, with his award-winning studio in The Netherlands, did the interior. Frers at first resisted the idea of the flybridge; it added weight up top. To compensate, he added five tons of ballast in the keel along the centerline.

With twin 1,550-hp MANs and V-drives, the elegant new 78 tops out at more than 25 knots, with a range of 360 nm at 20 knots and 1,100 nm at 9.8 knots. The boat has a semi-displacement hull with a keel for lateral stability and fairly flat panels aft for efficiency.

The 78 looks like a little ship, with a slender profile, deep bulwarks, covered side decks and rows of large windows marching along the hull sides. The large foredeck is remarkable with a supersized sun pad under the slightly-raked windshield and two separate L-shaped lounges with teak tables forward.

The salon is laid out in an open plan, with freestanding furniture for versatility. There is no helm station on the main deck, so the salon seems to stretch out forever. A central island galley and long dining table are forward. The tall windshield and side windows offer panoramic views. A staircase leads up to the flybridge.

Rover’s interior design uses dark wood and anthracite lacquer to contrast with white leather and light gray colors. The idea is to provide a tranquil feeling inside the boat, so guests can relax whether at anchor or on a long voyage.

Below, four en suite staterooms are built along a companionway. The VIP is forward with a double bed offset to port, then two guest cabins, with two berths each, are a bit aft, while the master is full-beam amidships. The master head stretches from side to side aft, with his-and-hers sinks and toilets separated by a glass shower in the middle. Owners can choose from a walk-in closet or a settee and set of drawers.

The flybridge is protected by a hardtop with an opening run roof. Owners can choose from an open flybridge, a semi-enclosed one, or a fully enclosed design. The helm station is off to starboard, with a lounge and seating to port and a bar area to starboard. More seating and a table are a bit aft, with lounges farther back.
