Swan To Display New Shadow at FLIBS

Nautor Swan will show its elegant new 43-foot Swan Shadow powerboat at the Fort Lauderdale show next week.

Powered by three 350-hp Mercury outboards, the latest Swan tops out at 55 knots. But on the Swan Shadow, what’s the hurry? Relax, soak up the sun, or whatever else the weatherman has in mind, and bask in the glow of the admiring glances from everyone else in the harbor.

One of the most prestigious names in yachting, Swan has made more than 2,350 yachts, from 36 to 131 feet, in Finland over the past 50 years. Almost all of them, of course, have been sailboats. But Leonardo Ferragamo, the Nautor Swan president, decided that the company needed to move into the powerboat arena as well, while retaining Swan’s iconic minimalist design.

The interior materials and styling on the new Shadow are the same as what Swan uses on its superyachts. The cabin below can sleep two in a large V-berth, and the head has an enclosed shower. Owners can order an extra cabin forward for crew, as well as an optional galley up top.

The wide walkaround deck doesn’t have any steps; movement is safe and easy. You walk on the boat from the swim platform that wraps around the outboards. There’s sofa seating with a dining table, but the furniture is bolted to the deck so it can be moved around to serve different functions. The T-top has an opening sunroof.

Standard power for the Swan Shadow is three 250-hp outboards, with options going up to the three 350-hp Mercury Verado outboards. The Shadow has a twin-stepped hull with a 20-degree deadrise aft.

Specs.: LOA: 43’4”; Beam: 14’10”; Draft: 2’8”; Disp.: 12,786 lbs.; Fuel: 250 gals.; Water: 34 gals.; Power: 3×250-hp outboards.
