Iliad Launches 62 Power Cat Flagship

Iliad just launched its new flagship enclosed flybridge power cat in Australia. The new blue-water cruiser, powered by twin 600-hp Volvos, has a top speed of 21 knots and a range of more than 3,000 nm at 8 knots.

Iliads are made for safe cruising far from home. Each boat can be customized for its owner, and they’re designed for comfortable cruising and living aboard for as long as six months at a time. The 62 is built to Category A standards for ocean safety; it even has protective grounding skegs so you can beach it for cleaning, inspection or repairs even in remote parts of the world where a Travelift may be out of the question.

Iliad also puts an emphasis on easy living, saying that the 62 is designed in the style of a luxury apartment with lots of living space, light and storage. The flybridge can be fully enclosed or open; either way, it holds ten people and is complete with an upper galley, grill, fridge, bar and ice-maker.

The aft deck is huge, stretching across most of the cat’s 26-feet-plus beam, with large outdoor dining areas. The salon has seating all around and an impressive galley with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and storage space for a long cruise; there’s also a wine locker and liquor cabinet. The dining table can seat 12 people. You can walk from the salon straight out to the foredeck, with its own lounging areas.

There are options aft. The swim platform can have traditional davits for the tender, or it can lift up for launching the tender (and serving as a dive platform). You also can order a crane mounted up on the flybridge.

The side decks are wide and clutter free. A composite stairwell with handrails goes up to the flybridge.

The standard 62 has three staterooms below, all with en suite heads and lots of natural light. The owner’s suite occupies one hull, and it has a walk-in wardrobe and a vanity. You can add a laundry, workshop or office in that hull if you want. The two matching guest cabins are in the other hull.

Iliad Catamarans were started in 2019 in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia. The boats are made in China.
