Prestige X70: Spirit of a Superyacht

Prestige, the upscale French builder, says its X70 provides all the spirit and space of a superyacht, while blurring the lines between the interior and exterior areas of the yacht.

The X70 does indeed provide a lot of space, even for its 71-foot-plus size. The salon is full beam, because the side decks have been moved up to the flybridge. Then the aft deck/beach club/swim platform area is considerably larger than usual, creating lots of outdoor space for lounging, sun bathing, entertaining and water sports.

The new Prestige was designed by the Garroni Design studio in Genoa, and it has striking lines with the sheer seeming to separate upward as it moves aft, full-length windows in the salon, and a raked windshield at the helm on the main deck.

The aft deck, partially protected by the overhang from the flybridge, features aft-facing sun lounges flanked by four steps on each side going down to the swim platform. An extra lounge space opens out of the transom to create a beach club just above the high-low swim platform. The aft deck is also home to a dining table with seating for eight people.

Wide glass doors open to the salon, on the same level, with 6’ 10” of headroom and large, 7’ 3”-wide windows running along the sides. The salon has modular furniture, with L-shaped seating on the port side, a three-person settee to starboard, and an L-shaped galley forward. Then it’s two steps up to the lower helm, where the captain is flanked by two bench seats; a door opens to the starboard side deck.

You can reach the low-profile flybridge via twin floating-step staircases from the cockpit. Two seats face the helm, a dining table, a bar and an outdoor galley are a bit aft, and more lounge seating is farther aft.

Below, the master stateroom is full-beam amidships, the VIP cabin is in the bow, and a third stateroom is between them, all with en suite heads.

Standard power is twin 800-hp Volvo IPS1200 pod drives. With optional 1,000-hp IPS 1350s, top speed is about 27 knots.

Prestige is part of the powerful Beneteau Group.
