Hinckley just introduced its new Talaria 43 Mark 11 cruiser, the latest iteration of its popular motor yacht with a lot of state-of-the-art, user-friendly features combined with its made-in-Maine craftsmanship and seaworthiness.

Hinckley has been making yachts in Southwest Harbor, Maine, for the past 90 years, earning a worldwide reputation for creating strong, elegant and beautiful vessels. But Hinckley also has been in the forefront of embracing  new technologies, and that tradition continues in the updated Talaria 43.

Carbon fiber is now often replacing fiberglass, and Hinckley uses a single-bond, vacuum-infusion process that chemically bonds carbon and epoxy from bow to stern for strength and long life.

At the helm, Hinckley’s patented JetStick 4 provides smooth and intuitive maneuvering through crowded harbors and mooring fields, using redundant and reliable digital processing, all at your fingertips. The new Talaria’s Smart Mode selects between helm steering and the JetStick, so you don’t have to worry about pushing any buttons.

Once you’re underway, Heading Hold provides a linear course in a variety of conditions, at any speed, and adjusts the steering sensitivity and tension. Dockhold locks the boat in place if you want to leave the helm to secure the dock lines, a boon for single-handed maneuvering or if you’re unsure of the boat-handling capabilities of your guests. And G-lock will hold your position and heading; you can take pictures of the setting sun, for example, and the boat will stay where it is.

The new Talaria comes with twin 550-hp Volvo common-rail diesels working with Hamilton HJx water jets. The jets are safer than props, but they also mean the yacht has very little draft; you can pull up to a beach for a picnic, or navigate through skinny water without worrying about dinging a prop.

The Talaria also has a push-button system that opens windows and  power hatches from anywhere on the boat using digital displays or the iPad that comes with the yacht. And you can open up the salon and the aft cockpit without worrying about unsnapping canvas or Eisenglass. Touch a button and Hinckley’s patented disappearing enclosure retracts the glass windows; then you slide the half-door open and you’ve created a seamless open air space from the cockpit to the galley.

Specs.: LOA: 45’10”; Beam: 14’6”; Draft: 2’4”; Disp.: 28,000 lbs.; Fuel: 500 gals.; Water: 100 gals.; Power: 2×550-hp Volvos with HJx Hamilton waterjets.
