New Targa 46: All-Weather Flagship

The new Targa 46 flagship is the largest and most powerful Targa yet. A solid blue-water performer, the 46 has a top speed of more than 40 knots with its standard 480-hp Volvo IPS650 pod drives.

But the Targa 46 is about much more than speed. Targa has been building boats in Finland for 40 years, earning a reputation for creating tough, safe and comfortable cruisers that will go anywhere in all kinds of weather.

If you want to make sure you can cruise Down East even in sloppy weather, or reach your island destination in the Pacific Northwest all-year-round, then the Targa 46 beckons. The world of adventure cruising is growing, and Targa wants to be part of that trend.

Targa first introduced the 46 in 2017, and it’s been updating it ever since. The newest model has a larger engine room for more power. It also has a higher deck to give more space to the accommodations below. A three-cabin, two-head cruiser, the Targa 46 sleeps six. The flybridge seats seven, and has an optional foldable windshield and a Bimini.

It also has full walk-around side decks, high gunwales and doors on both sides of the helm station for easy access to the side decks. The overhang from the flybridge provides weather protection for about half of the cockpit.

A sliding glass doors opens to the salon from the cockpit. The salon has windows all around for great visibility from the helm and everywhere else. Headroom is more than seven feet. A large U shaped settee and dining table are on the port side; more seating is aft by the door to the cockpit. The galley, with a long countertop, stretches along the starboard side.

A single helm seat, facing two MFD screens, is on the starboard side. A twin passenger seat is to port.

Below, the master cabin is forward, with its own head and shower. The other two cabins are amidships with the larger one to port and the smaller one to starboard. They share the second head.
