New Princess Y80 Heading to Miami

The large, luxurious and fast Princess Y80 flybridge motor yacht will make its U.S. debut at the Miami show in February. The British-built yacht had its global introduction at the Cannes show in September.

With 1,900-hp MAN V12 diesels and straight shaft drives, the new Princess tops out at 33 knots, and it has an impressive range of 340 nm at a fast cruising speed of 24 knots. Dial back to 10 knots and the range jumps to well above 1,000 nm.

The Y80 comes with a slash of glazing running almost full length of the hull side, suggesting forward movement, and well-designed proportions that provide lots of space for entertaining or relaxing. The foredeck, large even for an 80-footer, has a massive terrace social area with seating for ten people and adaptable fore-and-aft facing U-shaped seating that can be converted to a sizeable sun pad.

At the other end of the yacht, an “infinity” cockpit has furniture that can be rearranged and two sofas that slide electrically in and out from the dining table. The glass transom adds to the infinity feeling, since the view extends all the way to the horizon.

The Y80 has an open plan for the salon, with a lounge area aft and the galley forward with a day head. You can partition off the galley and the lower helm if you prefer to separate the guests from the crew. Side doors open to the decks there so the crew can circulate without bothering the guests. Crew quarters are tucked into the transom.

Up top, the flybridge is open, but protected overhead by the hardtop. It has the upper helm, seating and dining areas and a full wetbar. On the boat deck aft, the crane for the tender can be hidden within a large sun pad or it can be left free standing. If an owner doesn’t want the crane there, the space can be used as a spa bath.
