Sealine S390: Well-Designed Cruiser

Sealine’s new S390 is a versatile sportcruiser with lots of space for a day or weekend on board and even has room to sleep five on its accommodations deck below.

Powered by twin 380-hp Volvo D6 diesel sterndrives, the new Sealine tops out at about 34 knots while providing a fun, safe ride for everyone on board. Designed by Britain’s Bill Dixon, who often works in the superyacht space, the new Sealine seems to have more room for relaxing and enjoying a cruise than is usual in this size range.

The foredeck, for example, has 48 square feet of lounging space, starting with a three-person sun pad with adjustable backrests and then moving to a three-person, forward-facing seat on the bow. All of these pieces can be laid flat to create a massive sun bed.

Sealine says the helm deck is the largest in its class. It’s protected under an extended hardtop that’s large enough for two separate opening sun roofs. The windshield is one piece, and visibility is excellent from the four helm seats. A three-piece galley is built into the aft edge of the seats, making room for the fridges and ice maker without interrupting the central walkway.

The cockpit makes full use of the Sealine’s 12’ 8” beam and there’s only one entrance, on the starboard side, to make more space for seating. The backrest of the aft seat folds flat above the swim platform and the cocktail table drops down to transform the cockpit into a giant sun bed with the addition of an extra cushion.

Below, the master cabin is in the bow and it’s filled with light from a skylight, large side windows and another window under the leading edge of the foredeck island sun lounge. The boat’s beam is carried forward, and the hull sides are steep, so there’s lots of volume here.

A lower lounge has an L-shaped settee and dining table that drops down for an occasional berth. The galley is large enough for a comfortable cruise. It’s opposite the head and shower.

A transverse cabin is aft under the helm deck, with a pair of transverse berths plus a third one that runs fore and aft on the port side. Light comes in from long, deep windows on both hull sides, and there’s enough room to sit up in bed.

Sealine is part of Germany’s Hanse Yachts group. It makes ten models of cruising boats from 33 to 43 feet.
