New Alen 77 Flagship Now in U.S.

The new Alen 77, the flagship of the Turkish builder, is distinguished by its elegant long, straight sheer and clean lines, and that’s before you see the wide side decks and the extended swim platform with teak all around.

Alen has been making boats, starting at 44 feet, for the past 20 years. The new 77 is available in flybridge or sedan models. The sedan was on display at the recent Fort Lauderdale show with a price of $4.5 million, a very competitive number for a solid, comfortable, well-built 77-foot yacht.

Powered by twin 1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 pod drives, the Alen 77 tops out at 30 knots. At a cruising speed of 22 knots, it has a range of 400 n.m.

The fit and finish seem remarkable. The entire boat is built at Alen’s yard in Istanbul. The teak on the topside of the gunwales is an inch thick; the camber extends all the way forward to the large bow lounge. The doors on the three cabins below are an inch thick; each hinge costs $1,000.

Aft, the transom lifts up to reveal a garage large enough to house an 11’ 3” Williams SportJet 435 tender. The engine room has 7-foot headroom, providing plenty of space to access the two Volvos plus a Cummins genset. The deck there is white gelcoat, so it’s easy to spot any oil spills.

The foredeck has two social and sunning areas. One, just under the windshield, has U-shaped seating, and the other is a semi-circular seating arrangement on the bow. Both convert to large sun lounges.

The salon is straightforward, with the galley aft (the second hull has the galley down) and a long settee and table on the starboard side, opposite more sofa seating to port. The two-person helm seat, nestled in its own platform, is forward to starboard, next to a door opening to the side deck. A sun roof opens overhead.

Below, the master cabin is full beam amidships with an en suite head. The other two cabins share a head.

Specs.: LOA: 77’0”; Beam: 19’11”; Draft: 3’4”; Disp.: 90,000 lbs.; Fuel: 1,056 gals.; Water: 285 gals.; Power: 2×1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 pod drives.
