Sunreef Unveils New, Slender 66 Ultima

Sunreef, the major Polish builder, just unveiled plans for a new 66 Ultima catamaran that the company says combines the best of both multihull and monohull luxury cruisers.

Sunreef’s Ultima line, with four other cats from 44 to 88 feet, is thinner and sleeker, with a more modern look, than the company’s other yachts. Its reduced width (with a beam of just 23’ 9” on a 72’ 2”LOA) and high decks create a horizontal surface between the two hulls, resulting in an unusually spacious full-beam master stateroom.

The 66 Ultima also has high bows inverted above a chine that runs the entire length of the hull, while the low and highly raked windshield, the forward face of the coachroof, provides a super-modern profile.

It’s almost normal now for yachts of all sizes to have some type of fold-down terrace aft, but the Sunreef 66 Ultima is remarkable in the amount of open space it provides there. The bulwarks fold out on both sides, connecting to a full-beam, hydraulic high-low swim platform and an open air cockpit with a large sun pad and dining table to create what Sunreef calls an Ocean Lounge. There’s even a hidden jet-ski garage under the sun lounge.

Up top, the flybridge has 376 square feet of relaxing and dining space, plus the upper helm, all protected by a sleek, thin hardtop. Another large social and sunning area is on the foredeck.

Below, the 66 has three other staterooms plus the owner’s, all with en suite heads and showers. They all have lots of natural light coming in from the large windows that seem like a long slash in the hull sides.

The new Ultima is available with either standard power (twin diesels from 380- to 480-hp each) or hybrid power. It also has Sunreef’s optional “solar skin” of  lightweight and thin flexible solar panels.

LOA: 72’2”; Beam: 23’9”; Draft: 3’11”; Disp.: NA; Fuel: 1,056 gals.; Water: 210 gals.; Power: 2×380/480-hp or hybrid.
