Quarken Launches New 35 Weekender

Quarken, the Finnish builder, is introducing its new 35 Cabin at the big Düsseldorf show, starting Jan. 20. The 35 is Quarken’s largest boat yet.

The 35 has the same lines as Quarken’s 27, just stretched quite a bit  – a fairly plumb bow, an asymmetrical wheelhouse to provide as much interior room as possible, with a wider deck on the starboard side. But it also has a forward cabin below that’s large enough to sleep two adults and a sofa that can be extended to hold two children. The enclosed head has a shower.

The new Quarken’s windshield is highly raked and thin mullions on the windows all around mean there’s good visibility from the helm, and everywhere else, with lots of natural light. An opening sun roof provides more light, and lots of fresh air, on good days. A sliding door next to the helm and another one aft provide more ventilation, and make movement around the boat easy. A full galley and dinette in the wheelhouse can keep a family happy for a weekend or longer.

Quarken offers several modules to choose from on the aft deck, including an open layout, one or two benches, or a wet-bar unit. In any event, terraces fold down manually from each side to provide more space. A large sun deck is on the bow, providing another social area. The 35 can hold ten people for day cruising or entertaining.

Power comes from twin 300-hp Yamaha outboards, producing a top speed of 44 knots. The Quarken has a twin-step hull for agility and performance.

Quarkens are designed and made in Finland, but they have new dealers in the U.S.
