Simrad just introduced its new NSX ULTRAWIDE MFD that it says is the world’s first ultramarine display with all the features. Simrad says the new display has all the benefits of dual screens in one place, and is 63 percent wider than previous models.

The NSX ULTRAWIDE results in an elevated-dash look that offers easier, faster and more efficient installation for OEM or existing boat owners with fewer cables and less set up. It is available in 12-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. The ULTRAWIDE will make its first appearance at the Düsseldorf show, starting Jan. 20, and in the U.S. at the Miami show, starting Feb. 14.

“Whether in their cars, computer monitor at work, or the TVs in their homes, consumers have grown accustomed to and love the benefit s of ultrawide screens,” said Kevin Steinbraker, VP of Navigo Group, which makes Simrad. “Now they have those same experiences at the helm with immersive graphics and flexible viewing splits.”

The new ULTRAWIDE offers an aspect ratio that provides full-page applications and application splits, as well as uninterrupted data flows for easy viewing and easy navigation decision-making. The new units are designed to be user-friendly and to create a seamless viewing experience.

The latest C-MAP DISCOVER charts are optimized specifically for the ULTRAWIDEs, and the displays’ high-pixel density shows sharp resolution and new levels of detail. The charts have built-in safety alerts that warm of hazards ahead, everything from shallow water to rocky shoals.

Simrad says that for the first time, users can manage C-MAP chart updates and upgrades directly from their device, with the ability to choose specific areas for an almost instantaneous download.

The 12-inch NSX ULTRAWIDE costs $2,749 and the 15-inch costs $3,399.
