Sleek Itama 62RS Debuts in Miami

If you liked the looks of classic Rivas, you’ll certainly love new Itama. Indeed, the Itama 62RS, making its U.S. debut at the Miami show from Feb. 14 through 18, takes more than a few design cues from the iconic wooden Rivas whose ownership ranged from Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren to the Aga Khan.

In the U.S., the new Itama also touches the fast-driving, fast-living world of Miami Vice days but with a lot more room and amenities than Sonny Crocket ever dreamed of. The teak foredeck, for example, goes on forever, and has luxurious sun pads for lounging there. If you want to relax with more people, the aft deck has a luxurious four-person sun pad, just a few steps from the outdoor bar, galley and U-shaped dining area.

The tall wraparound windshield is tapered all the way back to the transom. The Itama’s sleek lines are not interrupted by handrails or stanchions; the deck cleats are retractable and the hatches and skylights are all flush fitting.

Power in the Itama 62RS comes from twin 1,400-hp MAN V12 diesels with straight shafts. Top speed is 40 knots, and the boat has a range of 255 nm at 37 knots, more than enough to run over to Bimini for lunch after the show breaks up and get back to Miami in the afternoon. It has a deep-V hull with a 20-degree deadrise at the transom for offshore performance. Humphree Interceptors will keep the boat leveled, and an optional Seakeeper gyro can keep everything stabilized.

Below, the new Itama has three staterooms and three heads. The master cabin is forward with a walkaround bed. The two guest cabins are amidships, while the galley is just aft of the master on the port side with a U-shaped dinette and table to starboard.

Itama is part of the Ferretti Group.
