Sunseeker’s New Manhattan 68 Pacific

Sunseeker, the big British builder of luxury motoryachts, made a big splash in Miami last week. Indeed, Sunseeker had eight yachts there, including the Manhattan 68 Pacific specifically designed to appeal to a U.S. market.

In the past few years, Sunseeker has been increasing its presence here, and the new Manhattan 68 Pacific should add to that growth. It’s basically a four-cabin, three head flybridge yacht with some appealing features.

Extensive hull glazing provides light throughout the yacht, including the Grand Master stateroom below. It’s set full-beam amidships, and you get there via a private staircase from the port side of the salon. It’s a floating five-star hotel suite, with seating on both sides, including a chaise longue, breakfast table, vanity and sideboard. A separate bar has both glass storage and refrigeration.

The foredeck has forward-facing seating and sun lounging areas, while teak side decks lead aft to the large cockpit and a beach club with a dedicated locker for two SeaBobs. Up top, the flybridge is protected by a hardtop, with an opening sun roof. It has the upper helm with lounges, a cocktail table and a bar, plus the best views in the house.

In the salon, the fully equipped galley and large dinette are set aft (a nod to the American market) so it can serve guests in the cockpit as well as in the salon itself. The dining area has L-shaped eating and a table that folds away to create more floor space. Push a button and a TV rises from a cabinet. There are two seats facing the helm forward, while sliding full-width glass doors open to the cockpit aft.

Standard power comes from two 1,000-hp MANs, producing a top speed of 32 knots. The new Sunseeker has a range of 550 nm at 10 knots.

Specs.: LOA: 69’7”; Beam: 17’3”; Draft: 5’4”; Disp.: 82,453 lbs.; Fuel: 1,057 gals.; Water: 238 gals.; Power: 2×1,000-hp MANs.
