Riviera, the large Australian builder, will display its new 46 Sports Motor Yacht at the Palm Beach show, starting March 21.

The 46 is a luxury family cruiser with three staterooms and two heads, a large aft galley in the salon and lots of room aft for relaxing on board and enjoying water sports. The new 46 is the entry level model in Riviera’s Sports Motor Yacht series, which already includes a 50, 68, and 72.

Standard power comes from twin 600-hp Volvo IPS800 pod drives, with fingertip control from the joystick for easy maneuvering around a dock. Top speed is 34 knots, and range is 268 nm at 24.5 knots. Twin 725-hp Volvo IPS950s are upgrades, if you want more power.

The cockpit and the al fresco aft deck are protected by the overhang from the flybridge for weather protection. Riviera offers three entertaining and dining options here. From the swim platform, two doors open to the cockpit with a barbeque, fridge/freezer, wet bar and ice-maker. There’s a settee on each side, with a table on the port side. If you really want to relax, you can order an optional TV in the forward port corner.

A sliding glass door opens to the salon. The galley is aft on the starboard side, and a window lifts up to serve the aft deck. Large enough to serve a cruising family, the galley has a C-shaped countertop, two-burner cooktop, fridge/freezer, microwave and lots of storage space.

In the salon, a U-shaped settee is on the port side with a table; an L-shaped settee is across to starboard. The only helm station is up on the flybridge with two seats on the starboard side. It’s set a bit aft, with two large seating areas for guests set forward.

Below, the master cabin with an island double berth is forward. Two hatches open above for fresh air, and there are two cedar-lined hanging lockers. Two twin-berth guest cabins are amidships. The second head is on the port side.
