Iliad Catamarans, the up-and-coming Australian builder, will show its new 53 Flybridge long-range cruiser at the Palm Beach show, starting  March 21. It just introduced the 53 to the U.S. at the Miami show last month. The new cat has already been nominated for a 2024 Multihull of the Year award.

The new Iliad 53 has high freeboard for protection from challenging conditions on long blue-water cruises. The ride is soft and safe. Power comes from either 440-hp Volvo or Yanmar diesels, with a top speed of about 21 knots. At lower speeds the cat  has a range of more than 2,500 nm.

The flybridge takes advantage of the cat’s 25-foot beam to create a massive social space with views all around. It has a two-person helm seat, a bar on the starboard side, and U shaped seating aft with a cocktail table, all protected by a hardtop with a sun roof.

The salon incudes the lower helm with two seats on the starboard side and the dinette, seating six to eight people, to port. The home-sized galley is aft, near wide glass doors that open to the cockpit, all on the same level. It has high-end appliances with an island counter, a full-size fridge, freezer and lots of storage space.

The cockpit is protected by the extension of the flybridge hardtop and is a large entertaining and relaxing space with a bar and outdoor seating for ten. Large steps on each side lead down to the swim platform, which provides access for swimming, sun bathing and water sports when the tender is deployed.

Below, the master stateroom occupies the entire starboard hull. A queen-sized bed is set athwartships so it faces large hull windows for water views. It has a long dressing area; the head and shower are forward. The other two cabins, with en suite heads, rare in the port hull.

Iliad was started in 2019 in Mooloolaba, Queensland, on the Coral Sea. The boats are made in China.
