Invictus Showing New 42 Outboard Model

Invictus Yacht will be showing its new, sporty and outboard-powered TT420S at the Palm Beach show, starting March 21.

The new Invictus, with its distinctive lines and signature axe bow, is really an outboard version of the Italian builder’s most popular model. Powered by three 350-hp Yamaha outboards, it’s aimed specifically at the U.S. market. The original TT420 was introduced in Europe with inboard power from two 440-hp Volvos, but Invictus realized that outboards are growing in popularity here.

The design, by Christian Grande, remains the same as the original, other than some tweaks aft for the outboards. The original boat won a Design Innovation Award a few years ago. Grande, with studios in Parma, often works in larger yachts, and is known for thinking a bit out of the box.

The Invictus TT420S features an eye-catching windshield that blends into the modernistic carbon-fiber hardtop. The windshield has a front opening system so that fresh air can circulate through the helm deck when the boat’s at anchor.

The space aft that had been the engine room for the twin Volvos is now a storage space for water toys, and the Invictus has a separate garage that’s large enough for a 6’ 8” tender.

The side decks are protected by high bulwarks for safety and lead forward to a sundeck on the bow that can be converted to a chaise longue. Folding tables and a dinette provide a dining and relaxing area amidships. Terraces that fold out of the sides are an option, if you want to create a larger social area.

Below, a living area forward has U-shaped sofas that can be transformed into a double bed at night. An aft cabin has two beds,  plus a large head and separate shower.

Invictus was founded eight years ago in Borgia. Its boats have become popular in Europe because of their unique lines and the company’s semi-custom approach to owners.
