Riviera has launched its new 58 Sports Motor Yacht, a versatile cruiser with room for a family or group of friends to spend a lot of time on board in a variety of settings.

One appealing spot is a terrace that’s aft of the salon and just a few steps up from the lower cockpit. This al fresco deck is protected by the overhang from the flybridge up top, and by glass quarter panels on the sides. It has U-shaped seating around a high-gloss dining table and a settee, and a window opens to connect it directly to the galley aft in the salon. Anyone sitting here has great views of any water sports activity farther aft, or to keep an eye on the lines and bait while fishing.

There’s another social area on the foredeck, with an L-shaped lounge around a table and seating that converts to a sun pad. Owners can add a Bimini with carbon fiber poles for protection from the sun.

You can climb on the new Riviera via the almost-full beam swim platform that can be lowered hydraulically to launch or retrieve a tender. Port and starboard transom doors lead to the cockpit, which can be arranged for entertaining, diving or fishing.

A glass door from the terrace deck opens to the luxurious salon. A large U-shaped galley is aft with a dinette; a large L-shaped settee is forward. A centered staircase leads down to the three cabins and three heads below.

The master stateroom is full-beam amidships, with a queen-sized berth, a walk-in closet and a breakfast bar. The VIP is in the forepeak, with another queen berth, and the guest cabin is aft to port with two single berths, but if you push a button they slide together to form one bed for couples. The new Riviera has an extra space aft of the master stateroom that can be used as a laundry or utility room, or even as a crew or extra guest cabin.

Up top, two leather chairs face the helm in the enclosed flybridge; you get there via an internal staircase from the salon. An electric sun roof and opening side windows can let in a lot of natural air and light. There’s seating and entertaining space inside, but a glass door opens to an aft deck with a lounge, folding table and a wet bar. There’s also an additional joystick up here to help the captain with docking or overseeing the fishing action aft.

The new Riviera 58 is powered by twin 1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 pod drives, delivering a top speed of 36 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots.  The 58 is the sixth model in the Australian builder’s Sports Motor Yacht fleet that goes from 46 to 72 feet.

Specs.: LOA: 64’ 8”; Beam: 18’7”; Draft: 57”; Disp.: 80,469 lbs.; Fuel: 1,189 gals.; Water: 211 gals.; Power: 2×1,000-hp Volvo Penta IPS1350 pod drives.
