Lexus just unveiled its new 68-foot LY (for Luxury Yacht) 680, a new and slightly larger version of the LY 650 it launched in 2018.

The new 68 will be built by the Horizon Group in Taiwan, which produces models from 52 to 150 feet. Lexus says that Horizon has “a reputation for its advanced technological capabilities, which have been honed through the construction of superyachts.”

Standard power is twin 800-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives; twin 1,000-hp IPS1350s are upgrades.

Lexus says the concept of the new 680 is “to feel like a hideout in the middle of the sea, providing a space where discerning customers can feel free and at ease.” It will carry out Lexus’ design philosophy that centers on “crafted,” meaning that it focuses on every detail so that the overall yacht can  provide a unique experience that exceeds owners’ expectations.

The new 680 has a slightly larger flybridge and swim platform than the 650. The flybridge is extended by more than four feet, and has a lounge and a grill; the swim platform is more than two feet larger.

Overall, the yacht is large enough to carry 15 people, and it has accommodations for six in three cabins.

The new Lexus is bound to stand out with its copper and silver paint scheme, not unlike the rose-gold color on a Lexus LC500. The design is by the Italian firm of Nuvolari Lenard, with a sleek look outside and a high-gloss glow inside.

The first LY 680 is scheduled to be launched next spring. You can order one now through a Toyota Marine dealer in Japan.
