The new Galeon 450 HTC (Hard Top Cruiser) is a comfortable family cruiser with a full-length glass roof and a “beach mode” aft with large terraces that fold out of the bulwarks.

Powered by twin 480-hp Volvo diesels with straight shafts, the Galeon tops out at 28 knots. It’s easy for a couple, or even a solo captain, to handle, and a door next to the helm opens to the starboard side deck so the captain can help with docking. The railings open on both sides for easy boarding from a dock.

The Galeon’s salon has panoramic windows that are four-feet high, a single-pane windshield, an opening window on the port side, and a sun roof. It’s full of light and space; headroom is a full 7’ 8”.

The galley is forward with Corian counters and lots of drawer and pantry space. The helm, across to starboard, has twin 12-inch Raymarine MFDs on the console. A U-shaped dinette with an adjustable table is aft a bit, across from a flat-screen TV and a bench seat.

Side-Power bow and stern thrusters help with docking, Zipwake trim controls keep the boat level, and an optional Seakeeper 5 gyro stabilizer is designed to keep everyone comfortable underway or at anchor.

The swim platform lowers for access to the water or raises to access the stern-facing grill that’s built into the transom. The aft deck has an L-shaped settee for lounging and a dining table for al fresco meals. The terraces fold out of the sides to add seven feet to the boat’s beam; they’re sturdy and have safety railings. They also have a center cutout window so you can see through them when they’re closed.

Below, the master cabin has a queen berth with a backlit sculpted headboard, dressers and cabinets on both sides, and side windows. The head comes with a separate stall shower. The VIP cabin is forward with a centerline scissors-type berth that can be separated into two beds.

Galeons are built in Gdansk, Poland.
