Italia Yachts Launches 43 Veloce Express Cruiser

Italia Yachts, based near Venice, Italy, recently launched their first powerboat. Known for their elegant and beautifully-built sailboats from 30 to 70 feet, the move to introduce  a new powerboat stirred much anticipation in powerboat circles.

The new 43 Veloce does not disappoint. A 43-foot express cruiser with a walk-around deck, the Veloce doubles as a stylish day boat that can be configured for weekend and longer cruises.

The Italia Design Team collaborated with the Skyon Design Studio for the fairly radical and attractive lines of the hull and cabin. The bow was given a lot of height and thus interior volume to make room for a huge master cabin.

While the high bow is a unique feature, the design team married it beautifully to the hull with a slightly reverse sheer forward that dips down gracefully as it runs aft. The steeply angled wind screen flows aft to form a hard top over the front of the cockpit. Painted black, cockpit enclosure looks like something out of James Bond.

Italia offers both inboard and outboard engines. The 43 can be equipped with twin Volvo IPS 440s or three 300-horsepower outboards. At wide-open-throttle, the Veloce will make 35 to 40 knots.

The cockpit is huge and made even larger with the fold-down side bulkheads. The two-person sun bed can be easily converted into a dinette by spreading the cushions and raising the table beneath.

The accommodations are for four, with a centerline double berth forward and twin singles in the cabin tucked under the cockpit floor.

This stylish new entry in the mid-range express cruiser market is as Italian as an opera and evokes all of the stylish and graceful design characteristics we’d expect from Italia Yachts. Bravo.
