The Cruising Club of America is a private, not-for-profit organization that has a membership of experienced cruisers and sailors, both power and sail. For CCA members and many like-minded adventurous cruisers around the world, the Maine coast is hallowed ground.
Maine veterans will tell you that it would take a lifetime of summer cruises to get to know all of the coast from Kennebunkport to Machias. There are hundreds of rivers, coves, harbors, islands and coastal villages to explore.
Yes, there are millions of lobster pot buoys in every harbor and thorofare. Yes, fog is a regular occurrence, particularly in spring. And, there are lots of rocky shoals to avoid.
But from July 4th through September, the Maine coast serves up mostly great weather as well the magic of eagles nesting, dolphin swimming in your bow wake and the putt putt of lobster boats leaving harbor at dawn.
As a service to the cruising community, the CCA has assembled over the last few years a comprehensive online guide to all thing you’ll need to know to successfully take your boat to Maine and enjoy weeks of adventure.
The service is free and the information, collected by dozens of CCA members, gets updated regularly. So, if you have internet access, you can explore the Maine coast digitally and then go there and enjoy it for real.
