Fly Over the Waves on a Foiling JetCycle

In 2020, the French company JetCycle introduced their innovative and patented water toy of the same name. The original JetCycle is a recumbent, pedal-powered foiling boat that, with spirited pedaling, will rise up onto its foils and then soar over the waves at up to 20 knots, as long as your legs last.

It’s a fun idea and at about $10,000 apiece it quickly found a market in Europe among outdoor enthusiasts, cyclists and energetic youngsters. The company now runs JetCycle family-oriented events with races and point to point rallies.  And, they have recruited a team of ambassadors who help spread the word about how much fun JetCycling can be.

For 2024, the company is introducing a new model for couch potatoes that has electric propulsions. Instead of pedaling hard to get the boat onto its foils, you can switch on the motor and let it do the heavy lifting for you.

Once foiling, you can then throttle back the motor and pick up the slack with your legs, which is much less taxing while riding the foils than getting up onto them in the first place.  This looks fun and the electric motor makes a lot of sense, despite doubling the price.

Cruising Odyssey could not find a U.S. distributor for JetCycle. To learn more, check out the French/English website here.
