The Cannes boat show in September brought a star studded collection of yachts to the famous French resort for what is now the largest in-the-water show in Europe. So, it is not easy, even for a brand as respected Nautor Swan to stand out from the crowd.
But the brand-new Swan Arrow did just that. Moored right next to the bridge over the channel that leads to the inner harbor and the bulk of the boats in the show, the new 75-foot Arrow had the most conspicuous stage in the whole show, visible to everyone coming and going for sea trials. And, new Swan flagship motor yacht did not disappoint.
The Finnish builder is best known for their iconic sail boats that have set the standard for quality, comfort, sailing prowess and reputation since 1976. The company entered the powerboat market in 2021 with their first express day boat labeled the Swan Shadow. With three outboards, a T-top, a cuddy cabin and large lounges fore and aft, the Shadow turned many heads, particularly as it sped by at 60 knots.
The Shadow was followed in 2023 by the Overshadow, which took the day boat concept and added a larger hard top, a bigger cuddy cabin for weekend cruising and twin Volvo DPI inboard diesels. It, too, is a rocket ship.
This year, at Cannes, Swan rolled out their new 75-footer and everyone could see that the Shadow and Overshadow were the design teases and the 75 was to be the main attraction.
A three-cabin, ultra-modern express coupe was designed by Jarkko Jamsen who also designed the Finnish-built Axopars so it is no surprise that the Arrow bears a family resemblance to those highly success boats. The sharp bow and straight sheer give the boat an aggressive style that hints at high speed marauding.
The salon and cockpit flow together on two levels. The salon can be closed off with a large sliding glass door or when open you join the aft cockpit via four wide stairs. The side bulwarks fold out and a swim platform can be deployed on a telescoping cantilever to create a vast waterfront sunning porch.
The boat is finished in Nautor Swan style and quality, with soft pale fabrics, lots of varnished trim and quite low-slung Scandinavian-style furniture. All together the new Arrow is 75 feet of luxury packed into a hull that will had a top end of 50 plus knots.
The smaller Swan powerboats are fun. The Arrow is a true yachting diva. Read more here.
