Hinckley Feeds the Need for Speed, Introduces 53-knot 41 Outboard

This week, Hinckley Yachts of Portsmouth, Rhode Island Introduced a Hinckley Picnic Boat on steroids. The new 41-footer, based on the successful launch of the 39 last summer, has all of Hinckley’s classic Down East looks with the gleam of an impeccable hull finish and the teak trim and tables shining with a dozen coats of  varnish. But it also has three outboards that will give it a top end of 53 knots.

“The Hinckley 41 is for those who desire the thrill of outboard power while embracing the artistry and pedigree that define our brand,” said Gavin McClintock, CEO at Hinckley Yachts. “This yacht is a masterful balance of performance and refinement, crafted for those who demand the very best in design, speed, and capability.”

Like for 39, the 41 has a bow cockpit built into the foredeck. This will be the fair-weather social space where five or six friends will be able to share meals or cocktails together. The aft cockpit flows together with the open salon in one large space. Four or five can sit in the cockpit while the salon will offer refuge if the weather changes.

Since the 41 is outboard-powered, the hull space under the aft cockpit has been turned into a huge storage area for water toys, inflatable paddle boards or SCUBA gear.  Having this space available will enhance day excursions with family and friends to remote islands with beaches and coves to explore.

A key aspect of the design is the performance hull shape. The underbody carries a 22-degree deadrise from the sharp bow to the transom. This V-shape provides the hull with a soft ride and dampens any pounding you might experience running into chop or square waves. Combined with the flare in the bow, you will stay stable, steady and dry even at high speeds.

And, if 53 knots is not enough for you, Hinckley offers an upgrade propulsion configuration that will peak out at 60 knots.

Founded in 1928, Hinckley Yachts is an American yachting institution. With the introduction of the new 41, they are proving that being an institution doesn’t mean they have to be stuffy, slow and dull. Just the opposite, the company is very nearly 100 years young and the new Hinckley 41 proves it.
