Stylish Riviera 4300 Sports Express Launched This Spring

This spring, Riviera, the Australian builder of fine, robust cruising boats, launched the all-new 4300 Sports Express at the big Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. A two-cabin, one head coupe, the new design looks like an ideal couple’s cruiser.

We immediately thought that this new boat would be perfect for Great Loop or inland waterway cruises. It has a bridge clearance of only 15-feet, 4-inches which is four feet less than the lowest fixed bridge on the entire Loop.

With twin Volvo D6 IPS drives, each rated at 440-horsepower, the new 4300 has all the moxie it needs for fast running and IPS maneuverability.  It will surpass 30 knots at wide-open-throttle, but at a more conservative cruising speed of 22 knots or so, it will deliver remarkable fuel efficiency.

The living spaces on the 4300 are neatly arranged for entertaining and for living the outdoor life cruisers enjoy. These is a slightly sunken lounge built into the foredeck that will be a great place for sunning and for sundowners on calm evenings.

Aft, the swim platform is wider than most and has a hydraulic section in the middle that can be lowered to sea level. This will appeal to kids enjoying water sports or SCUBA divers setting off straight from the boat.  The outdoor “barbie” and sink are built into the outdoor galley.

The layout is for a family and has good inside living and relaxing spaces. The salon has two L-shaped sofas, one with the triangular dining table, and a wet bar. The helm with twin bucket seats is forward to starboard and has excellent 360-degree visibility.

Down four steps leads to the galley to starboard and a lower lounge to port. The galley has an induction stovetop, twin sinks, twin drawer-fridges and a microwave.

Just aft of the galley and under the salon floor is the after cabin that has a large single berth and a double berth. This will be an excellent “kid’s cabin.”

The master cabin has a centerline double berth and the doors can be folded away to have the cabin fully join with the lower lounge and galley. This will be how couples alone on the boat will live.

Riviera has been building boats for more than 45 years and is still family owned and run. They have launched more than 6,000 boats and have a presence in every yachting center around the world. Their boats are known for their robust build, fine finish, longevity and fine seakeeping qualities.

The new 4300 Sports Express is a handsome new addition to that boat building heritage.
