This February at the Miami International Boat Show, Beneteau will introduce their new Swift Trawler 37 Fly to the North American audience. For over a decade, the Swift Trawler brand has carved out a unique niche as truly efficient performance cruising boats.
The Swift concept is to give owners all the space and comfort and style of a trawler yacht and the efficient running that you expect from a trawler with the speed and performance of an express cruiser.
The new 37 Fly does all of that in spades. The design is a bit more rakish that her sister ships with a slight reverse curve to the sheer, a flared bow and a sweet-looking, low-profile cabin. The flybridge, which has a dinette and fridge, sits atop the cabin very neatly. With an air draft of 16-feet the 37 is ICW and Great Loop capable
With the forward raked wind shields, the tinted glass in the salon and the forward cabin top overhang, the 37 looks all business and modern.
The boat is only 37-feet long so it is admirable how Beneteau has managed to fit in a spacious salon with a large dinette, galley, helm and a two-person co-pilot bench facing forward. The whole space is filled with light from the huge windows.
The master cabin is in the fore peak while the guest cabin is just aft of and fitted with upper and lower berths. The cabins share a head which has a separate shower stall, also something you may not find on other 37-footers.
The design is powered by up to a 440-horsepower engine that will provide fast cruising speeds in the twenties and an efficient cruising speed in the teens. At 10 knots you can really save on fuel and expand the range.
One of the design features that will appeal to cruisers who like to anchor out, is the large area on the bridge for solar panels. In combination with a large bank of lithium batteries, you will be able to run all house functions in silent mode for a full night without having to turn on the genset.
The new Swift Trawler 37 Fly is sure to attract crowds at the Miami show and, priced at under $600,000, will appeal to a broad cross-section of the cruising community.
