Founded in 1976, Kadey Krogen Yachts celebrates 50 years in business in 2026 and announced this month that they are honoring the occasion by introducing the new Krogen 53.
The new boat is a next generation trawler cruising yacht with all of Krogen’s blue-water, ocean-crossing DNA. It follows in the wake of the successful Krogen 52 and advances that legacy with a hoist of innovations and new owner options.
Like her Krogen sister ships, the 53 has a Pure Full Displacement hull with a fine entry at the bow, a balanced water plane for sea kindliness and the company’s iconic wine-glass transom. Proven over 50 years of voyaging, this hull shape offers comfort, safety and excellent performance in virtually all sea conditions.
“The Krogen 53 reflects everything we’ve learned over the past five decades about what makes a truly capable cruising yacht,” said Tucker West, President of The Kadey-Krogen Group. “This yacht is designed for people who want to confidently explore farther, stay out longer, and enjoy the freedom that comes with a thoughtfully engineered passagemaker.”
As a long-range cruiser, the 53 is endowed with large fuel tanks, ample storage spaces for personal and operating gear and easy access to all systems. The engine room is vast so routine mechanical maintenance will be convenient. The builder knows that Krogen owners venture far and wide and often explore off the beaten path so being self-sufficient is a must.

With the new 53, the interior joinery has been given a more modern feel and emphasis has been placed on options that owners can choose to make their floating home truly theirs.
The galley can either be positioned in its traditional spot at the forward end of the salon, or you can have it adjacent to the steps to the pilothouse and its dinette which serves to integrate both social areas.
On the lower decks, the standard layout offers the owner’s master suite amidships which makes use of the hull’s generous beam, a VIP cabin forward and a pullman cabin between the two. Instead of the small third cabin, owners can opt for a home office.
Krogen yachts are always easily recognizable in any anchorage with their springy sheer lines, ship-like pilothouses and large boat decks. With 50 years under their keels, the Krogen team knows what works out there in the open sea and that’s where we’d expect to find the new 53.
