Marex 440 Scandinavia is a Complete Cruiser

Earlier this year, we published a video from Marex Yachts of Norway showing off their unique Marex 440 Gourmet Cruiser. A flagship in their line of express cruisers, the Gourmet Cruiser has an expanded galley designed to facilitate entertaining and cooking with and for friends.

The video got so many views, we thought it was time to introduce the boat’s sister ship, the Marex 440 Scandinavia. The hull and deck are the same but the salon has been reconfigured with a smaller galley and a large sit-down dinette.

The dinette has several features that will appeal to cruising families. The forward end of the dinette had a seat that doubles as the co-pilot forward facing bench. Then, the back rest can flip forward to integrate the bench into the dinette. Under the table on the in-board side, there are two stools on stainless steel frames that are discreetly out of the when not in use. But, fold out the table leaf, and extend the stools and you now can seat six people around the table.

The 440 Scandinavia’s cockpit has a second full lounge and dining area with wrap-around benches and a table. This whole area can quickly and easily be enclosed with Marex’s unique and ingenious enclosure system. With the enclosure in place, the cockpit and salon become one weather-protected living space.

One of the 440’s prime features is the huge swim platform aft. This will make water sports, dinghy access and sun bathing all integral parts of the cruising experience.

Until you get on a Marex and only have seen the boats in pictures, it can be hard to appreciate the quality of the build, the fine finish work, the innovation everywhere you look and how unique these boats are.

Marex has only been imported to North Aerica for the last 16 months or so, with the brand launch at the 2025 Palm Beach international Boat Show. Since then, Marex USA’s director Chris Hughes has set up dealerships at McMichaels in Connecticut, Sandy Hook Yacht Sales along the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast coasts and Boston Yachts in the Northeast.

Speaking on the phone with Cruising Odyssey, Hughes noted that the brand launch has gone much better than he and Marex had forecast. “When people get these boats at the dealerships or in a boat show, the boats simply seem to sell themselves.

“The traditional and comfortable feel of the interiors and modern but not at all radical look of the hulls and cabins, suits the American boat owner’s preferences.”

The new co-flag ship 440 Scandinavia embodies all of that aesthetic and with a large, enclosed salon and cockpit it is truly a complete cruiser.
