British Pearl Yachts, which began making boats in Shakespeare’s home town of Stratford-on-Avon 1998, has replaced its popular 72 with an all new Bill Dixon designed 73. The new boat will have its coming out party Cannes’ Festival of Yachting in September.

The new 73 is sleeker and more modern than the 72 and will have more get up and go. With twin Man 1,400-horespower engines, it will have a top speed near 35 knots and a fast cruising speed in the mid-20s.

The design is notable for its dedication to water sports which is made possible by the huge garage built in underneath the cockpit. Accessed via a hydraulically lifting door, the space will fit a proper inflatable dinghy, a jet ski and numerous water toys from paddle boards to kites.

The space over the garage is a large sun bed and forward of this is the cockpit lounge with a table for up to eight.  There is also a bar with stools. The cockpit side bulwarks fold down to create more deck space and a closer connection to the water.

Up top, the flybridge has a large sunbed aft, the dinette amidships with a wet bar and the full helm forward. A half-length T-top will provide shade and some protection from the rain.

Another large social area can be found in the bow where there is a third sunbed and a dinette with a raising and lowering coffee table. All told, there three discreet outdoor places for family and friends to gather.

The 73 is a four cabin, four head design with two master suites –one in bow and one amidships– and two guest cabins. There is also a single berth crew cabin under the cockpit.

Pearl is known for their boutique quality design and build and for their sense of style. This is made evident by the Kelly Hopkin’s designed salon and other interior spaces. She has given the 73 a soft, sophisticated look with a natural earthy palette and plenty of light through both the hull and salon glazing.

A new sophisticated player in this range of flybridge designs, the new Pearl 73 will certainly turn heads at Cannes. Voila!.
