The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show just announced that it would be held, as scheduled, on Oct. 28 through Nov. 1. Some other shows, however, have been cancelled or gone virtual, while others are still scheduled, with health guidelines, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here’s a current report about the status of some of the major fall shows, listed chronologically.

Tampa. Sept. 11-13. Cancelled. “We believe this is the most prudent course of action to protect the health and safety of our staff, sponsors, members, exhibitors and attendees,” said Jennifer Thompson, senior VP, National Marine Manufacturers Association.
Newport, Rhode Island. Sept. 17-20. Cancelled. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Newport International Boat Show due to COVID-19,” the organizers wrote. “We feel that it is the right thing to do for the safety of our exhibitors, sponsors, staff and attendees.”
Monaco. Sept. 23-26. Cancelled.

IBEX, International BoatBuilders Exhibition and Conference, Tampa. Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Virtual only. “The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors, and partners is our primary concern,” said Anne Dunbar, show director. “While gathering in person is not the right decision this year, we will instead connect virtually.”
United States Powerboat Show, Annapolis. Oct. 1-4. Still scheduled. But no dogs, strollers, or after-hours events. Tents will be marked with one-way aisles. For updates: http://annapolisboatshows.com
Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Oct. 28-Nov. 1 (pictured above). Still scheduled. Informa, the London-based company that runs the show, said it is introducing AllSecure, “a newly enhanced approach to health and safety at all of its events.”
AllSecure will follow the Global Biorisk Advisory Council standards, including deep cleaning before, during and after each day’s events. Informa said “this includes complete overnight disinfection, electrostatic sprayers with EPA biodegradable disinfectants, and continuous sanitation throughout the course of the boat show, with a focus on high-touch areas such as door handles, restrooms, and food and beverage areas.”
Informa also said that “all staff and participants will be required to wear a face mask and participate in screening measures such as thermal-scanned temperature checks or other screening processes upon entry.” For updates: http://flibs.com Read more:
