Kadey-Krogen and Summit Motoryachts, its new brand, just announced two new boats at the Newport show.
Building on the reception to the Kadey-Krogen 50 Open, the company will introduce a new 60 Open, with the same living concept joining the salon and galley area with the pilothouse. And Summit will launch a new 54 Coupe (see rendering, above) to add on to the 54 Motoryacht it just displayed in Newport.
Kadey-Krogen has a rich history, having built more than 600 cruising yachts in the past 44 years in its yard in Taiwan. Full-displacement, blue-water trawlers, they have earned a reputation for easy living on board and excellent sea-keeping abilities in waters around the world.
The new 60 Open builds on that tradition, particularly the easy flow of the interior based on the layout of the 50 Open. It will have a new day head in the pilothouse, while below the master stateroom amidships, with a king-sized bed, takes advantage of the yacht’s 19’ 6” beam to provide a lot of living and moving-around space.
All told, it will have a three-head, three-stateroom layout with a convertible office area. Power comes from twin 200-hp John Deere diesels. The boat is scheduled to be launched in 2023.
The new Summit Motoryachts line is meant for people who want to go faster than the traditional Kadey-Krogens. The boats are designed by Michael Peters, of Michael Peters Yacht Design in Sarasota, who’s worked on everything from world champion offshore racers to superyachts to the new Hinckley 35 with two outboards.
The new Summit 54 Coupe, made in the same yard as Kadey-Krogens, will have a top speed of 28 knots. It has an optional sunroof, to let lots of light and fresh air into the salon, and a seamless integration of the aft galley and the cockpit. A galley lounge settee, with a teak high-low table, is to starboard.
The helm deck has a U-shaped settee to port, with another teak high-low table. The helm, with a Stidd helm chair, is to starboard, next to a door leading to the side deck.
Below, the owner stateroom amidships has an island queen berth and a large en suite head and shower. The VIP forward has a queen berth, and the guest stateroom has a full berth and access to the VIP’s en suite head and shower.
