Candela, the innovative Swedish builder of foiling electric boats and ferries, has partnered the Swedish EV manufacturer Polestar to create a cutting-edge E-boat with all the style of Polestar cars.

This special edition of the C8 came together as a tribute to the boatbuilder’s close ties to the car maker. The just-launched 28 footer is painted in Polestar grays and blacks and can be fitted with jet black carbon hard top.

The gold-painted foils are similar to the gold accents on Polestar’s automobiles. And, the boats’ seats have the same fine, hand-stitched quality as the electric cars.

While the haute styling is impressive, what lies beneath in the power train and foiling technology take the C8 to a new and equally impressive level.

The foiler is powered by a 100kW electric motor that runs off a 69kWh Polestar battery that delivers a 65-mile range at an average of 25 knots. On top of that, the battery pack can be recharged to 80-percent capacity in less than 30 minutes. That’s reassuring when you far from you home marina.

Once the C8 rises onto its foils, it soars above the waves while the foils are operated by sophisticated software that makes attitude adjustments in microseconds. The result is a soft and sure-footed a ride.

Pundits like to say in reference to innovative new concepts that this looks like the future. Well, just maybe it is. Read more.
