The Italian builder Persing, a member of the Ferretti Group, launched their new GTX 70 this week thereby adding a third member to the builder’s sport utility GTX line. The 70 joins the GTX 80 and 116.
The GTX 70 is the creation of the Ferretti Group’s in-house design team in partnership with the Product Strategy Committee, led by Piero Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari’s son. So, it’s no wonder that the 70 exudes supercar styling and performance.
The new desig emphasizes the huge beach front area aft. The after deck is large and the swim platform can be lifted hydraulically to the same level which almost doubles the deck space. Fold down the side bulwarks to become patios and you end up with an area of almost 250 square feet.
If you don’t want to hang out aft, you can sneak off to the lounge area at the bow or climb up the bridge where there is a sunning pad and a dining area. This is out-door living Mediterranean style. La dolce vita.
The main deck has an open plan that joins the shaded cockpit with the salon. The cockpit has a large lounge while the salon has the galley and a sit-down dining table for eight guests.
Down below, there are three cabins with en suite heads so a party of six will have large and comfortable private spaces for sleeping and quiet time.
All Pershings are known for their super-boat performance and the 70 is no exception. It is powered by three Volvo D13s with IPS drives. These propel the craft to a top speed of 35 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of about 30 knots.
The GTX70 is a true sport utility yacht with unmistakable Italian style. Ciao, bambino.
