The Legendary Development Group, which has built and runs marina resorts on Florida’s Gulf coast, is well along in phase one of a new marina and resort on Blue Water Cay, on the southeast corner of New Providence Island, The Bahamas.
When completed in 2026, the Legendary Marina Resort at Blue Water Cay, as it is called, will a 132-bed hotel, 22 condominiums, and rows of beach-front cottages. Plus, there will be comfortable crew quarters for boat owners who want their professionals to have all the conveniences they need.
Phase one will see the completion of the in-the-water docks for boats up to 60 feet or so. Phase two will have dockage for vessels up to 220 feet.
The new marina’s notable innovation is the huge, 65-foot-tall aluminum structure that will have rack storage and concierge services for motorboats up to 55 feet. The forklifts that move boats of this size are enormous.
This enclosed storage is unique in the Bahamas and will give the facility a real competitive advantage versus the island’s other marinas. The building is being built to withstand wind speeds from a Category. 5 hurricane, so non-residential owners can leave their boats through the hurricane season confident that it will be there in the fall.
The new resort will be self-contained with restaurants, a coffee shop, on-site shopping, a fuel dock and boat repair and maintenance professionals.
With a boat based in New Providence. –the town is called Nassau—owners can explore the whole Exuma Island Chain nearby or Eleuthera just to the east or venture north to the Berry Island.
Fishermen will have both Exuma Sound and the Tongue of the Ocean nearby, both of which are famous for an abundance of game fish and pelagic table fish.
Phase one will open before the end of 2025 and the reservation and sales offices are open now.
