New 60-foot Luxury Cat Carries a Mini Sub

Officina Armare, the upscale Italian design firm, has just unveiled its latest head-turning custom yacht: a 60-foot luxury catamaran called Project Aquanaut that carries its own two-person submarine. The design studio says it was “heavily influenced” by the looks of a Ford Bronco, and calls the new 45-knot cat an  SUV of the sea. The cat does have a low, sporty, boxy, and very aggressive profile, and it’s clearly meant for versatility and adventure. It will be built to order by Licia Yachts in Turkey. New Hynova 40: First with Electric-Hydrogen Power

The Hynova 40, which is billed as the first production electric-hydrogen powerboat, will make its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept 8. Built by Hynova Yachts, a French startup, the boat can be used as a dayboat or a superyacht tender. The boat is powered by batteries and hydrogen fuel cell technology developed for the auto industry. How To Read Your Charts To Stay Off the Rocks

Here’s some great advice from Skipper Tips about how to stay off the rocks, or reefs, or even mud flats, that can be hidden at high tides. Take a look, and remember how to read your charts to stay safe: Look at your chart or plotter software and note any areas tinted in shades of green. These are “inter-tidal” areas that cover and uncover based on the state of the tide. Former Gunboat Sailboat Salvaged, Rebuilt as 64-foot Power Cat

Here’s a story of restoration, renewal and rebirth, of a state-of-the-art sailing catamaran that ran into a storm 200 miles off the coast of North Carolina, lost its mast, and then floated in the Atlantic for 14 months until it was salvaged, taken to the U.K. and redesigned into a 64-foot power cat. Northern Marine, the storied builder of high-end expedition yachts, is back, with a new owner, and it’s now finishing a 57 Raised Pilothouse cruiser in its yard in Anacortes, Washington.
