Browsing: Charter

Here’s something different. At a time when the Baby Boomers are getting older and older and everyone in the boating business – power, sail, charter – is wondering where the new customers are going to come from, Canadian Yachting magazine has a highly readable, first-person story telling Millennials how to have a great charter vacation in the BVI (although in my opinion it would be hard for anyone, at any age, not to have a great time in the BVI). It starts with the basics – Pick Your Team Carefully, Be Prepared – and then moves on to advice that’s…

The Moorings has just started power charter vacations in the Seychelles, the series of secluded, sandy islands with incredible marine life in the heart of the Indian Ocean. You can now book a memorable charter on a Moorings 514PC (power cat), with four staterooms, five heads, air conditioning and two 350-hp Yanmar diesels. Depending on your desires and experience, you can charter the big cat as a bareboat or with a captain. It has a fully furnished salon, with a convertible sofa sleeping two adults and access to the huge foredeck that takes advantage of the full 25-foot beam. Up…

If you want to cruise the Maine coast in style next summer, take a look at Jericho, a classic 42-foot wooden Bunker & Ellis beauty that you can charter bareboat out of Southwest Harbor. Built in the mid-1900s, Jericho will turn heads whether you cruise along Eggemoggin Reach or just travel across Somes Sound to Northeast Harbor. I personally would be happy just sitting on Jericho at a mooring, enjoying my morning coffee or evening glass of wine, knowing I was on one of the most beautiful boats around. The Moorings is opening a new charter base in the Spanish Virgin Islands, the easy-to-get-to, easy-to-enjoy cruising grounds on the east coast of Puerto Rico. The new location is at Puerto Del Ray Marina in Fajardo, just a 45-minute cab ride from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, which has many direct flights from the U.S. And U.S. citizens, of course, do not need a passport to visit there. The marina is the largest in the Caribbean, with a dockside bar and restaurant, gourmet store, marine stores and free wi-fi. From there it’s not far to some of the Caribbean’s most…

With its 21’6” beam carried all the way forward, the Aquila 44 catamaran has space – and more space – just about everywhere. The three-stateroom, three-head boat also has a lot of privacy. The master stateroom is forward with a king-sized bed, a small settee in a separate seating area and a large head and shower. The two separate hulls, meanwhile, mean the two more staterooms, one on the port side and one to starboard, are totally private, a major advantage during cruise with family or friends. In the salon, the galley is aft, with a dining/sitting area forward; it’s…

Good news for fisherman. Now you can go fishing on your charter vacation on The Moorings in the BVI. Indeed, The Moorings just registered their entire fleet of power cats in the BVI as fishing vessels, meaning they are legal for fishing there. A recent regulation imposed by the BVI government requires all vessels to have an official registration number in order to engage in any fishing activities; as of July 1, all Moorings power cats, from 39 to 51 feet, have the official registration numbers. These boats are in addition to the entire fleet of Moorings crewed yachts, which…

If you’re still looking for an over-the-top charter this summer, there’s still time to head for St. Tropez, surely one of the most glamorous destinations in the world. Yachts are still available, and more slots will open up as the fall season begins. If you need more reasons to charter in St. Tropez, look here: http://www.boatbookings.com/blog/2016/08/04/st-tropez-in-a-nutshell/

Not that you should need them, but if you’re looking for more reasons to charter a bareboat powerboat in the Abacos, here goes. And these are in addition to the reasons that I personally love cruising there  – some of the most beautiful water in the world, great white beaches, terrific marinas and resorts, and the chance to get away from it all. And they’re nearby. http://www.moorings.com/blog/five-experiences-you-can-only-have-bahamas
